Carson, Rachel
Carson, Rachel( 1907–64),zoologist whose sensitive interpretations of scientific data made her books, Under the Sea Wind (1941), The Sea Around Us (1951), and The Edge of the Sea (1955), popular successes. Silent Spring (1963) was also widely read but for more sensational reasons since it describes the potentially dangerous effects of misused insecticides.
