Bacon, Leonard
Bacon, Leonard( 1887–1954),poet, whose collection of lyrics, Sunderland Capture (1940), was awarded a Pulitzer Prize. Day of Fire (1943) is a book of wartime lyrics. His earlier volumes, often satirical, include Ulug Beg (1923), Ph.D.'s (1925), The Legend of Quincibald (1928), Rhyme and Punishment (1936), and Bullinger Bound (1938). He was professor of English (1910–23) at the University of California. Semi-Centennial (1939) is an autobiography.
