Posted by ss4537 on Monday September 1, 2008 at 2:50 PMNYU boasts very strong academic programs all around. There is no one program that is stronger than the other. However, certain schools are more well known than others, in particular the Tisch School of the Arts and the Stern School of Business. Tisch is well known for its notable alumni, many of which are big names in Hollywood and Broadway. Stern is also very well known and has a solid reputation as one of the leading business schools in the country. Though these are some of the more well known schools within NYU, every academic program at the school is very strong and unique in its own way.

However, all students in CAS (College of Arts and Sciences), Gallatin, Steinhardt, are equally respected.
The Tisch School of the Arts is a very strong Arts school in all areas. The Clyde Davis Recording Program is very strong with grammy-winning professors. The Film program is also well-renowned, and Spike Lee happens to be a professor in thi area. The Performing Arts program is, as you might have guessed, quite amazing. Hundreds of successful actors and actresses have graduated from this school, not to mention very well-known broadway stars.
All in all, you can't go wrong with programs at NYU. They are all strong, and with all schools, an education is what you make of it. Stern is competitive because students are determined to fulfill this exact principle by taking classes taught by certain professors (because they know this professor will teach them the best). Tisch is also such a great school because of its location: the heartland of Broadway. There are so many opportunities for all students alike as long as you get out there and do it. The programs are only as strong as you make them otherwise it is pure reputation.
