Posted by mkm318 on Tuesday September 2, 2008 at 12:57 PMYes. At NYU it is very popular and very, very easy to study abroad. NYU currently has 9 study abroad campuses on 4 continents, and we are soon opening a new one in Tel Aviv, Israel and a new full University campus in Abu Dhabi. NYU has been adding one new Study abroad campus almost every semester recently. NYU having these campuses means no hassle with transferring your credits or your financial aid. And you get to hang out with the friends you made abroad every weekend once you get back.
You can study abroad with a non-NYU program if you wish--it's just a little bit more difficult. But NYU supports study abroad a whole lot, so if you're willing to do some more work, you'll get the help, credits, and money you need.
You won't be a weirdo if you DON'T study abroad at NYU, but most people regret missing the opportunity. I'm leaving for NYU Paris in a week, and I'm very excited.

I don't know at stats off the top of my head but in my experience, almost everyone I know has gone abroad at some point (some even twice). The beauty of it is that NYU has a lot of money- a good portion of which has gone to establishing an international presence through abroad sites. For example, NYU has a breathtaking villa on a hill overlooking the city of Florence (where I studied) fit with an olive tree grove, two large housing buildings, a museum, a class building and much more. There are some majors that find it difficult to study abroad given compulsory classes that are not featured in abroad cirrulum but most students don't have too much trouble. On top of that, you can go anywhere- NYU has many many choices. I don't know anyone that regrets going abroad.
