NYU is known to be a very liberal university which allows both its students and faculty to discuss all types of issues and express their opinions on the matter. Many students who feel strongly about an issue can propose their concerns and solutions to the NYU community and in most cases others will take up their cause and help to make a difference. Washington Square Park is offen filled with NYU students who express their concerns to the community about current issues such as the war in Iraq and the growing concern of global warming. In fact, NYU has become a leader in enviornmental sustainability by making larger efforts to reduce their carbon footprint. NYU has just finished buliding Gramercy Green, a new dorm that is enviornmentally friendly. For more information on how NYU is trying to make a difference and help the fight against global warming go to http://www.nyu.edu/sustainability/. However, with NYU's diverse community (almost 10% of the student body are international students) new ideas are constantly floating around. Not only is it easy to express an opposing view on an issse, the NYU community is more accepting of others opinions, even if they are a little farfetched. Posted by sgc252 on Sep 4, 2008. |
