This is the best novel I have read all year. It has unisex appeal; there is only a little bit of male bashing, and women will appreciate the strong female protagonist.
The story is about one family and two big secrets shared between a mother and daughter. Both secrets will manage to revise the family's past and change its future. As the mother is forced by another relative to tell her daughter her life story of growing up in China against the backdrop of World War II, the American-born daughter must reflect on her own life and...
