The Natural Group
Question:
There are other kinds of appetites (other than hunger for food) described in the book. Do they seem to form a pattern?
Roy's appetitle to be the best in the game.
Roy's appetite for well-dressed nice looking thin women.
Pop's appetite for winning a pennant.
Memo's appetite for a good life.
Max Mercy's appetite for Roy's personal details.
The judge's appetite for $$$.
In Roy's case, the more he wins, more he wants. More he eats, more hungry he gets. The more unattainable Memo becomes, more he wants her.
Am missing anything else with "patterns"?

This sounds very good to me, but maybe you can consider some other characters as well, for example, Harriet's appetite for drama, Sam's appetite to be a father, Whammer's appetite to be the best as well (as it is Whammer who challenges Roy in the first place).
You list is already good, though. I guess it will depend on the length of the paper you are writing as to how many character's "appetites" you want to analyze.
