The Natural | Adaptations

In 1984 The Natural was made into a major motion picture by Tri-Star Pictures, Mark Johnson produced and Barry Levinson directed; Roger Towne and Phil Dusenberry wrote the screenplay. The cast included Robert Redford as Roy, Glenn Close as Iris, Kim Basinger as Memo, Robert Duvall as Max Mercy, Wilford Brimley as Pop, and Barbara Hershey as Harriet Bird. Although the film generally follows the outline of the novel and some of the dialogue is retained, several episodes are omitted, such as Roy's "Day" and the ride in the Mercedes afterwards with Memo, and the beginning and end are...
