In Greek mythology, Paris was a handsome young prince who eloped with the most beautiful woman in the world and caused the Trojan Warlegendary war between the Greeks and the people of Troy that was set off by the kidnapping of Helen, wife of the king of Sparta; inspiration for Homer's epics the Iliad and the Odyssey. The son of King Priam and Queen Hecuba of Troyancient city that was the site of the Trojan War; present-day Turkey near the Dardanelles, Paris seemed destined for disaster from birth.
