Hecate

Hecate was a complex, ancient goddess known to the Greeks but originally worshiped by people of Asia Minorancient term for modern-day Turkey, the part of Asia closest to Greece. She held several different roles, including earth goddess, queen of the underworld,land of the dead and goddess of magic and witchcraft.

According to the Greek writer Hesiod(ca. 700 B.C.) Greek poet who wrote the Theogony, Hecate was the daughter of the Titanone of a family of giants who ruled the earth until overthrown by the Greek gods of Olympus Perses and the nymphminor goddess of nature, usually represented as young and beautiful Asteria....
