Yurupari

A very long wooden TRUMPET used by the Amazon Indians in Brazil, which they considered taboo to women and strangers. Oscar Wilde mentions them in his novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, speaking of exotic and dangerous hobbies of his hero in whose collection there are "mysterious yuruparis of the Rio Negro Indians, that women are not allowed to look at." The reason for this proscription is not explicitly known.
