Tagelied
(Ger., day song). Poem of farewell made popular by the MINNESINGERS. They are usually songs of partings between lovers, sung at sunrise. RICHARD WAGNER has a Tagelied in the second act of Tristan und Isolde, warning against imminent danger.
In France and other Latin countries, the Tagelied is known as alba or aubade, a "morning" or "dawn" song.
