Saga, En

(A saga). SYMPHONIC POEM by JEAN SIBELIUS, 1893, first performed in Helsinki, with the composer conducting. With this work, Sibelius established his individual musical style. It is based on a MOTIVE in a MINOR MODE that reflects the Scandinavian spirit: introspective, strong, and persevering. The work is indeed a saga of Finland.
