Quartet for the End of Time

(Quatuor pour h fin du temps). A work for violin, clarinet, cello, and piano by OLIVIER MESSIAEN, 1941, in eight movements, it is a devotional meditation on the end of time.

Messiaen wrote it while a prisoner of war in Germany. It was first performed in the prisoner's camp Stalag 8A, Görlitz, Silesia.
