Quadrille

A French ballroom square dance, the name of which is derived from the Spanish quadrilla, that is, four dancing pairs. It has five main figures: le Pantalon, l'Eté, la Poule, la Pastourelle (la Trenise), and la Finale. The time alternates between () and .

The quadrille attained its greatest popularity in the early 19th century, in Europe (including Russia) and America.
