Panpipes
The most ancient of wind instruments, consisting of several reeds of different sizes bound together. Its name explained by the legend that it was invented by the god Pan.
Panpipes exist in all cultures. In South American countries they are known under various names: antara (Peru), rondador (Ecuador), capador (Colombia), and sico (Bolivia). In China, panpipes are arranged in two mutually exclusive WHOLE-TONE SCALES, one symbolically masculine and the other feminine.
