Panama Hattie
Musical by COLE PORTER, 1940. The heroine is a top canary at a low-grade cabaret in the Panama Canal Zone, who is in love with a Philadelphia blue-blood official. She makes the grade when she thwarts a plot to blow up the canal locks. She also acquires manners and eventually marries her Philadelphia friend.
Among the best tunes are I've Still Got My Health; let's Be Buddies; Make It Another Old Fashioned, Please; and I'm Throwing a Ball Tonight.
