Pachanga, La

A Cuban dance step and song, originally performed by Havana bands playing drums, flutes, piano, and strings. The music resembles a MERENGUE with a refrain. It emerged in the 1960s and superseded the MAMBO and CHACHA in popularity. The name means a wild party in Caribbean slang.
