Odhecaton
The first printed collection of POLYPHONIC music, published by Ottaviano dei Petrucci, in 1501. The title means "100 Songs" (ode + hecaton).
Actually, there are only 96 songs in the collection, but its historical value would have been great no matter what the number. Only nine are furnished with texts, but at the time the Odhecaton was published, instrumental tunes were commonly sung, and songs were often played on instruments.
