Oboe D'Amore

(It., love oboe; Fr. hautbois d'amour; Ger. Liebeshoboe/Liebesoboe). An oboe pitched in A, a MINOR THIRD below the standard instrument, with either a standard oboe or bulbous bell. It was the most popular of the woodwind d'amore instruments but like the others is essentially obsolete.
