Of Mice and Men

Opera by CARLISLE FLOYD, 1970, based on John Steinbeck's novel. Two migrant workers, George and Lennie, work on a farm and dream of buying a ranch of their own. After the simple-minded Lennie commits murder, George shoots him dead to save him from execution.

The book's and opera's title is taken from Robert Burns's famous line "The best laid schemes o' mice and men."
