Macbeth

Opera by ERNST BLOCH, 1910, first performed in Paris. The score bristles with unorthodox harmonies and asymmetric rhythms and was judged severely by conservative Paris critics.

One critic writing in his review of the premiere of Bloch's Macbeth stated, "This music is an indecipherable puzzle. .. . It is simply noise for the sake of noise."
