Kammersymphonie
(Chamber symphony). Work by ARNOLD SCHOENBERG, 1906, first performed in Vienna seven years later. The one-movement Kammersymphonie joins sonata form and symphonic structure. It is a transitional work in Schoenberg's career, moving toward his mature use of ATONAL MUSIC in its use of the WHOLE TONE SCALE and harmonies based on PERFECT FOURTHS, instead of the more common thirds.
