Kaddish
Symphony No. 3 by LEONARD BERNSTEIN, 1963, for female speaker, mixed chorus, soprano solo, boys' choir, and orchestra. It was first performed in Tel Aviv, with Bernstein conducting. The Kaddish is a Hebrew lamentation for the dead, and Bernstein dedicated his score to the memory of President John Kennedy. The text is partly in Hebrew and partly in Aramaic, the language spoken by Jesus Christ.
