OPERA by AMBROISE THOMAS, 1868, first produced in Paris. The LIBRETTO faithfully follows Shakespeare's tragedy. The music overflows with melodious and harmonious ARIAS and ensembles. For some reason the opera failed to achieve the success comparable to Thomas's Mignon.
