I Got Rhythm

Song by GEORGE GERSHWIN, 1930, from the musical Girl Crazy. This is a very intricate and yet disarmingly simple song. Its rhythmic pattern is formed by an eighth-note rest followed by four dotted-eighth notes and another eighth-note rest, all encompassed within a regular measure. With its success, Gershwin arranged it in a brilliant piano solo. He later wrote a VARIATION set on it for piano and orchestra.
