Gamut

(from Grk. gamma + Lat. ut; It., Rus. gamma; Fr. gamme). 1. A scale or pitch range, derived from the Guidonian gamma-ut, the first note of his scale. 2. A collection of sounds available to a composer or instrument. 3. Any range of expression available to a performer.
