Falstaff

Symphonic study by EDWARD ELGAR, 1913. Elgar was fascinated by the portly figure of the Shakespearean antihero. In this work he outlined in musical images Falstaff's life from his companionship with the future King Henry V to his fall from royal grace and pitiful death. The music is ROMANTIC, with elements of grandeur.
