Falsobordone

(It., false bass; Sp. fabordón). A style of chanting or reciting in root-position TRIADS, with all (usually four) parts written out. The style evolved in the latter 15th century. Eventually keyboard works and monodies with BASSO CONTINUO were composed in a similar style throughout the BAROQUE. The style was revived during the Cecilian movement (see CECILIANISM) of the 19th century.
