Fall River Legend

Ballet by MORTON GOULD, with choreography by Agnes de Mille, first performed in N.Y., Apr. 22, 1947. The subject is derived from the famous murder trial in Fall River, Mass., in which Lizzie Borden was accused of murdering her stepmother and her father with an ax. Borden was acquitted, but the case became part of American folklore.

Gould uses HYMNS and BALLADS of the period to lend local color to the score.
