Egorov, Youri
talented Russian pianist; b. Kazan, May 28, 1954; d. Amsterdam, Apr. 15, 1988. Egorov was a precocious child who learned to play piano at home. At the age of 17 he won a prize at the Long-Thibaud competition in Paris, and at 20 he received third prize at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow.
In 1978, Egorov made his N.Y. debut, followed by solo performances with various American orchestras. He settled in the Netherlands, where his career was cut tragically short by AIDS.
