Daphnis et Chloé

Ballet by MAURICE RAVEL, 1912. It recounts the mutual love of Daphnis and Chloé, who tend sheep. It was first performed by DIAGHILEV'S Ballets Russes. Ravel later drew two orchestral suites from it. The work is noted for its rich orchestral colors, meant to depict the natural beauty of farm life.
