Cabaret
A form of nightclub entertainment dating from C.1880-1930S , especially popular in Paris and Berlin. The French cabaret featured witty and slyly ironic songs, performed by artists such as Yvette Guilbert (1885-1944) , who inspired a host of 20th-century CHANTEURS and chanteuses. The Berlin cabaret world continued until the Nazi succession in the 1930s, having inspired the political music of KURT WEILL, HANS EISLER, and PAUL DESSAU.
