Bachianas Brasileiras

Nine pieces for various instrumental combinations by HEITOR VILLA-LOBOS, written between 1930 and 1945. The works, which combine Brazilian folk rhythms with classical COUNTERPOINT, are scored for orchestra, piano, chorus, and woodwinds. Two feature cello ensembles, including the engaging No. 5, with soprano (1938-45).
