    In the short story "The Most Dangerous Game," Rainsford is sent out of Zaroff's compound to begin being hunted.  He says that he pulls himself together and begins to think as a hunter and the hunted.  He also states that he plays the fox for awhile and circles around the island making trails.  He realises that he is tire and dark is coming quickly so he spends his night sleeping in a tree, draped across a limb.

    "A big tree with a thick trunk and outspread branches was near by, and, taking care to leave not the slightest mark, he climbed up into the crotch, and, stretching out on one of the broad limbs, after a fashion, rested. " (from The Most Dangerous Game.)
