    You are referring to "The Most Dangerous Game" by Richard Connell, in which Zaroff is a character who has tired of hunting animals who cannot think or reason. He has decided that hunting men is the only real challenge worthy of his hunting abilities. I have to turn your question back to you--if you "won" such a competition, and returned to civilization, wouldn't you report what was going on? Zaroff knows this is what would happen if he lets Rainsford leave the island. Can he take that chance?
