    Mr. White is the dominant force in the White's home. He is the cause of why things happen the way they do. He saves the monkey's paw from the fire and later buys it from Morris. When he becomes the owner of the monkey's paw, he sets events into motion that cost him his son and his wife. At the end, he has to live with his decision to buy the monkey's paw since the loss of his family is his own fault.
