    It can mean many things.
    Sometimes, people act blindly without knowing why they follow orders. Take as an example people who obey without thinking of the consequences of their actions. They obey without understanding the consequences.

    Another example is a child who obeys his parents. A child does not understand obedience. He follows its instinct.

    To me it means how do you get along in life if you dont follow the rules. when you are a child your parents teaches you obedience at a young age. you cant get through life without it.
