This play is a comedy about love and marriage and what happens when the magical world intervene with the lives of humans. Fans of Shakespeare will probably find this play a welcome change from the doom and gloom that are typical of Shakespeare's other works.
Unlike "Romeo & Juliet" and "Othello"- Shakespeare's darker plays-- this play is refreshingly witty and ends happily. All of the confusion that Puck has caused with his love potions is corrected. After being jilted by Demetrius and losing him to her friend, Helena's love for Demetrius is finally reciprocated. Hermia and Lysander are able to marry without fear of Hermia being sent to a convent. The couples are married in a double wedding and receive protective charms from the faries who were in fact responsible for the chaos in the first place.
