Many scholars consider Kenneth Silverman's Edgar Allan Poe: Mournful and Never-ending Remembrance one of the best modern full-length biographies of Poe. Silverman mentions some of the evidence Walsh mentions in his book, without analyzing it, just letting it stand unadorned. Of the possible causes of death he mentions (murder is not one of them), Silverman seems to lean toward an infection made worse by exposure.
