Who do you think can be a modern-day Richard Rich, a person who sacrifices integrity as a means of achieving a goal? Posted by sp0494 on Nov 12, 2008. |

Does Richard Rich have any integrity to sacrifice? To me, that is the more relevant question. It seems that he is more interested in material gain and fame than in any kind of morality or personal integrity. He wants the clothes and the furnishings and the status that his connections can bring. He doesn't care what it takes to get them. Who would be a modern parallel to Richard Rich? I'd have to say that corporate executives who take exorbitant bonuses at the expense of their employees' pension funds fall into the same category as him. They don't care about "the little people."
