Television is often blamed for portraying gender rules unrealistically, which many experts assert affects how real men and women act. In the past these stereotypes were normally of women, from the perfect 1950s homemaker to the buxom beauties of Baywatch. In more recent years some commentators have contended that numerous television shows and commercials have mocked the role men play in society. These analysts assert that instead of presenting men as intelligent and noble, network and advertising executives and writers mock and emasculate them.
