I assume from the tags that this is in reference to "The Magician's Nephew" by C. S. Lewis. The young Digory Kirke returned from Narnia with a magic apple given to him by Aslan to cure his ill mother. Digory does so, and plants the core of the apple in his back yard. The apple core grows into a tree, which eventually blows down in a storm. Digory (now an adult known as Professor Kirke) has the wood made into a large wardrobe. In "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" Lucy, Peter, Edmond, and Susan Pevensie discover that the wardrobe is a gateway into Narnia.
