Lewis uses a point of view in his Narnia Chronicles that is somewhat difficult to identify. These stories (including The Magician's Nephew) are all told in the third person, but he consistently uses the first person "I." However, his use of the first person in narrating the story does not change the fact that he is, indeed, telling a story about someone else, not about himself, thus making the point of view third person.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew is written in third person omniscient. The viewpoint can see all and tell what characters are feeling, even if the characters don't actually "say" it.
