Indeed he does. This can be seen in "The Magic Barrel" in the deck of pictures the matchmaker carries for display, and, especially, in the appearance of the picture of his daughter. If he is to be believed, he (the matchmaker) did not put the picture in the envelope, but somehow it appeared. It is as if one object forced its way into another object, so that the two people involved could meet. These pictures, the way they shift, move, spill, and communicate, speak more words than the people do themselves about human desire.
