Curie was born on December 6, 1904, in Paris, France, the second daughter of Nobel Prize-winning physicists Marie and Pierre Curie. Her father died when she was very young. She describes a childhood filled with her mother’s love but with little discipline, direction, or direct attention, as Marie Curie was almost completely absorbed by her work.
