When he begins to falter in his decision to kill Duncan, she uses shame to get him back on track. She knows her husband well, and pushes the buttons that will make him react the way she needs him to. She questions his manhood and courage, taunts and cajoles him until he is able to go through with the plan to kill Duncan.
If Lady Macbeth had not battered her husband in this way, he might never have gone through with it.
