Lady Macbeth decidedly brings out the worst in Macbeth's character.  Her manipulation of him magnifies the vulnerability of his ego.  Her questioning of his "nerve" is enough to convince him to commit murder.  Before he spoke with her he had not yet been convinced, and even once she did convince him to go through with it, he doubted the entire time that he followed the dagger.  He was overcome with guilt at his deed, and could not contain his emotions wherein yet another weakness is revealed. The website below is a great resource for further investigation into the themes and motifs of Macbeth.
