The incident you are referring to occurs in Act IV, Scene 1 of "Macbeth" by William Shakespeare.

In this scene, Macbeth is with four witches in a cavern.  They show him four apparitions.  These apparitions are meant to prophesy to him about what the future holds.

The third apparition is a child, wearing a crown, and holding a tree in its hand.  This apparition tells Macbeth that he will not be vanquished "until Great Birnam wood to high Dunsinane hill shall come against him."  (Great Birnam wood is a forest and high Dunsinane hill refers to Macbeth's castle.)

After hearing the prophecies of the apparitions, Macbeth orders everyone in Macduff's castle to be killed.
