The Story:
The Second Peloponnesian War was in progress when Lysistrata summoned women from Athens, Sparta, and all other Greek cities involved in the war. She wished them to consider a plan she had carefully thought out for ending hostilities between Athens and Sparta. The women arrived, curious about the purpose of the meeting. Since their husbands were all away at war, they were well inclined toward any scheme that would bring them back to them.
Lysistrata declared that the war would end immediately if all the Greek women refused to sleep with their husbands until...
